Toronto Mayor Ford in Oral Sex Storm

Politicians are usually a bland sort. Maybe it is something to do with their spin doctors telling them exactly what they should be saying, and how they should come across? Whatever the reasons, no politician ever comes out with anything of real interest. It is one of the reasons that people feel disconnected with government.

It can go too far the other way however. Toronto Mayor Rob Ford, fresh off admitting smoking crack cocaine, and buying drugs, has managed to offend almost everybody in the world.

Mr Ford made the comments whilst denying that he had offered oral sex to a female staff member. In response to allegations made in court documents released on Wednesday, in which the claim he was inappropriate with former policy adviser Olivia Gondek were made, he stunned reporters with the following comment.

“It says I wanted to eat her pussy and I have never said that in my life to her. I would never do that. I’m happily married and I’ve got more than enough to eat at home.”

He also threatened litigation against a waiter who accused him of snorting cocaine in the company of an escort, whilst drinking vodka, in a private room at a restaurant on St Patricks Day 2012.

Mayor Ford has since apologised for his “Unforgivable language”, but as his integrity as a father and a husband had been questioned, he had “seen red.”

Before the night in question was finished, he would allegedly call a cab driver a “Paki”, and describe several top aides as “Liberal bitches.” He also allegedly burst into tears about his deceased father.

Still Fighting

Over in Ireland, Mr Ford would be finished and would have to resign. Over in Canada, he intends to stay on and run for re-election in October 2014. This is despite Ontario Premier Kathleen Wynne suggesting the state could intervene, and stating

“The things we are seeing and hearing about Mayor Ford are truly disturbing”

It is pretty obvious that Mayor Ford has some serious problems. Sometimes substance abuse is an indication of something deeper, like depression. Whatever the reasons, I hope he gets the help he needs. But gee-whizz, would I really want the guy in a position of authority in my area? Hell no!

In better news for Mayor Rob Ford, it has been announced that him and his brother, Councillor Doug Ford, would get their own TV talk show, starting next Monday, entitled ‘Ford Nation’.

The Canadian obsession with Mayor Ford obviously isn’t over yet.
