Are we all getting a bit bored of politics at the moment? Donald Trump, Brexit, it is all just so depressing. I would much rather have a bit of escapism. Well, just hold fire with that, as politics has just got a lot more interesting in the Ukraine, and no, there hasn’t been another coup!
Political chiefs are defending the appointment of Anastasia Deeva as deputy minister of Internal Affairs, after naked pictures emerged of the 24 year old.
Varying Poses
Some of the pictures showed the young woman with her breasts exposed, whilst others seem to be of a more pornographic nature.
Despite the criticism, she has received support from Anton Gerashchenko, the adviser to Ukrainian Interior Minister Arsen Avakov, Deeva’s boss, who said: “I personally know Anastasia Deyev.
“Her task is to help the Minister of the interior, to do everything possible to support America, Japan and other countries, which help us in carrying out reforms, not reduce, but increase, their knowledge, experience, charisma.”
However, it isn’t just naked pictures that could be her undoing. It is also alleged that she lied on her CV. It is claimed she has said she has 10 years experience, although doing the maths, that would mean she has been working since she was 14.
Mr Avakov has again defended Deeva, saying that all checks have been passed, and that the photographs are actually fake.
He said: “The appointment went through the Cabinet based on a number of interviews conducted and special checks.
“Those who speak about violations in the appointment process do not understand it.”
Between 2013 and 2014 Deeva worked as the assistant to Leonid Kozhara, an advisor to former president Victor Yanukovych. If there is a campaign of misinformation against her, this could be the reason.
The old President was Russian leaning and got overthrown in a coup by Ukrainian nationalists. One wonders if there is a worry about Russian leaners getting influence once again.
Should This Finish Her?
However, even if these photos are genuine and Miss Deeva has gone and posed naked, what is the problem? It is not like she is going to strip off in the company of Russian diplomats. Hey, if she did, maybe those two countries would get on a bit better!
We will keep you up to date on this one. I really hope it doesn’t cost her her job. Though I am not a fan of gender politics, having women in this position being torn apart for showing their body is not right, in my opinion.
