Sex Toy Mistaken For Grenade in Airport Chaos

A traveller brought a major Berlin airport to a standstill after his sex toy was mistaken for a grenade.

The security team at Schonefeld Airport mistook the Ann Summers vibrator for a hang grenade, and consequently declared an emergency and evacuated the terminal.

X-ray Chaos

The offending item was identified during an X-ray at the outsize baggage check-in area last week.

The airport tweeted: “Due to police investigation concerning a piece of baggage, check-in at Terminal D is currently restricted.”

It transpired the owner of the offending item was in fact a 31 year old guy who had bought it as a present for his girlfriend.

After discovering that it was a sex toy, the airport followed up with a new tweet stating “Police Investigation is over. Terminal D reopened. However, further impairments in passenger handling possible.”

Sadly this wasn’t before the passengers had been hurried out of the building in a state of panic.

I have to say, I can’t even imagine how embarrassed the guy must have been. It is bad enough getting caught with a sex toy, but that said sex toy getting a whole terminal evacuated would be an undeniable low point.

Better Safe Than Sorry

To be fair, in the current climate, it is better that Berlin security guards are being sensible. I would rather them be too careful than get myself blown out of the sky by some terrorist.

My advice would be, if you have anything that looks strange in our luggage, let the people know about it. They can work out whether they want to have a look or not. Certainly beats any surprises and then you being at the centre of a major world news story.

Fair play, it is pretty funny though! Still, we have no idea whether the guy was allowed to take the vibrator on the plane.

Either way that will have been one hell of a conversation when he got to see his girlfriend when he finally got through.
