A man has been jailed for three years (the final 18 months suspended) for robbing an escort in a Dublin hotel room on October 8th, 2012.
Joey Fagan, of Rory O’Connor Park, Deansgrange, pleaded guilty at Dublin Court to robbery and production of a knife.
Last October, Fagan arranged to meet a Brazilian escort in her hotel room. On arriving, he produced a ’15inch homemade blade’, and lunged at the lady, holding the knife to her throat, then robbing her.
Fiona Murphy, defending said Fagan was deeply ashamed, and that he had been “off his face on tablets” the day of the attack.
Thankfully Mr Fagan is prison now, but the phycological damage for the escort can only be imagined.
Many people still see escorts as being a soft touch when it comes to violent crime. It certainly wouldn’t be a stretch to say that the man on the street doesn’t take escort related violent crime as seriously as he would if the victim wasn’t an escort. For us, this is just another reason that the Swedish model shouldn’t be brought in. Won’t pushing the industry underground just invite further attacks?
Christmas is just around the corner, and you would think it would be the season of good will. Unfortunately, but not unsurprisingly to those of us in the escort industry, the run up to the festive period sees no drop in the amount of attacks on escorts, and maybe an increase.
All we can say to the escorts on Escort Ireland is try and stay safe, be extra vigilant, and if for any reason you don’t feel comfortable with the appointment, either don’t make it, or finish it early.
Your safety is the main concern.
