When you think of a pole dancer, what image springs into your mind? For me it is a slender young lady who can throw herself around that pole like a true professional. However, there is a woman in America who is breaking the mould.
Lulu, who’s a US size 22, took up the sport back in 2006 following a loss of confidence after the birth of her first child.
Understandably she was rather nervous about stripping off in front of people, but soon realised that there were girls of different shapes and sizes in attendence.

Once she was hooked, she posted her competition videos on Youtube and hopes that by competing and showing off her moves, she will help promote body confidence in others.
Following a diagnosis of Polycystic Ovary Syndrome in 2011, she turned her hobby into a charity venture by organising regular pole dance competitions which help raise money towards PCOS research.
She even made it onto America’s Got Talent in 2012, and although she didn’t make it through to the next round, she gained plaudits from judges and the American public alike.
A Real Role Model
I think this is a truly wonderful thing. All different kinds of women are beautiful, and not just the stick thin ladies that the media shoves down our throat. They are beautiful as well, but they don’t have a monopoly on it. We see how popular the Galway escorts are. There are plenty of larger women on those pages and they are adored by their punters
Lulu is blazing a trail for big women everywhere. Look at what she is doing, and how popular she is. If she can be happy in her own skin, and people love here, large women everywhere should be able to hold their head up high.
In a time where we are struggling for positive female role models, Lulu, and what she stands for should be look at very favourably indeed.
