The AVN Entertainment Expo has come to an end, but many are still talking about one star who stood out at the convention in Las Vegas. Tasha Reign is known for being an adult actress, a music critic, a producer, a former MTV reality star, and even a guest columnist for OC Weekly. However, she became a big name in the mainstream media last week for her sex toys which were created with ‘bronies’ in mind. For those unfamiliar with the term, it’s grown men who enjoy and/or fantasize about ‘My Little Pony’. The rising porn star and self-confessed pony fanatic teamed up with sex toy manufacturer Crystal Delights to create a line of butt plugs – simply put one on and you’ll have your own brightly-coloured pony tail.
The Huffington Post had the chance to get up close and personal with Reign, to find out more about her work, her new creation and her plans for the future. Reign agrees that her product is aimed at a smaller market, but it’s not as niche as we may think. “At places like Etsy.com, there are pony ears and noses and the whole to-do,” she told HuffPost Weird News. Others at the Expo offered similar brony themed accessories, but it was the butt plug, released under the brand name ‘Reignbow’, that caught many people’s attention. “I wanted to find my own way to tap into the brony market, and I think tails are it. Kinky is more normal now, and this is what people like.”
Other Brony Accessories
If you thought that her collection simply contained plugs, you are mistaken. No brony is complete without ears and wings. In another interview with Toplessrobot.com, Reign talks of her other accessories; “Well, in my photo shoot, which I’m sure there are some photos out there already, I have ears, and I have wings, and I have all sorts of accessories that I got custom ordered and made, by different people on Etsy.com, and so I’m actually contacting them right now to put together a package…” All that’s missing is a live-action porno to go with it. Oh, wait. “Tasha’s Pony Tales,” a full-length porn film, has already been released to get bronies in the mood.
The film follows a group of girls who, after sipping a magical potion, turn into ponies who live in a magic cloud land. The magical pony land has, unfortunately, been taken over by centaurs and the only way to take back their homeland is to sleep their way around. “I’ve always been a big fan of horses — and what a cool fantasy,” Reign said. “I think cosplay and the adult industry are really coming together.” And it looks like she tapped into the right market. A national brony convention in New York last year was attended by around 4,000 people. The fandom has grown at such a pace, that a map of Brony meet-up groups has been created by major fan site Equestria Daily, which shows hundreds of conferences and gatherings located all around the world.
There’s More to Life than just Bronies
Despite the success of her new creation, Reign is still eager to continue her career as an adult actress. For the AVN expo, she brought along four chest-sized bags full of her necessities. She says it’s all worth it to “look great for the fans. They came here to see me, after all.” Two of the four bags were crammed full of costumes, jewelry and make-up. “People think I’m a hoarder,” Reign giggles. “It’s so much stuff. I brought more because of the AVN awards, but I usually always carry a lot. One bag alone has glitter, bronzer, fake eyelashes, toys, products and clothes.”
With all of her success outside of the adult industry, why go back? “I always felt like that is a form of media that really got my attention for some reason. I was attracted, and still am attracted to other genres, but I just feel very in sync with porn.” Reign says that she has been attracted to the industry since she was in high school. While at school at Santa Monica college, Reign needed the extra cash and decided to work at a local strip club: “I was like, “Oh my God, why wouldn’t I just take up a couple grand a night, or however much, just to dance at a club where I’m very comfortable?””
Through her work at the club, she met somebody who got her an invite to the Playboy mansion. After that, her modelling career took off and she graced numerous features in a variety of magazines. However, she quickly realized that this was not what she wanted. Reign was keen to build a name for herself and knew that the way to do it was through hardcore movies. She got in touch with her agency LA Direct Models; “I went in there and I was like, “Make me a porn star!” And they did.”
We may not be totally sold on the brony butt plugs, but we are a fan of her work.
