Sending naughty messages and dirty pictures to someone you are interested in is a lot of fun. You get to tease them about the kind of things you would do to them if you were with them. You even get the joy of reading their reply to your saucy text. However, there has been a lot of discussion lately about the kind of pictures you should and shouldn’t be sending, and one topic that is constantly up for debate is the dick pic.
If you send a dick pic to someone, you usually are taking a picture of your erect penis and nothing else. It is a way of saying “hey, look, I’m really hard for you”. Some also feel like the size of their rock hard member will be enough to make the person they are sexting think “I want a piece of that”.
However, sending dick pics can cause a lot of controversy. Some people believe that you should never ever send a dick pic, while others think that there are times when it is acceptable to send a picture of your cock. So, here on the Escort Ireland blog we ask… is it ever okay to send a dick pic?
Why people send them
People send dick pics for a number of reasons. One of the biggest that people admit to is that they want a reaction. They want some kind of response from the person they are sexting, and sending a picture of your cock is definitely one way to get a reply. Dating coach Laurel House explained that “there’s definitely a component of power tripping involved”, as men use it to show their masculinity. It is similar, in a way, to a peacock showing off its beautiful plumage.
That said, some people do it for other reasons. They believe that, if they were to send a picture of their cock, that they might get a similarly naughty snap in return. They want to exchange explicit pictures with you, and one way of showing this is by being straight forward and sending one first. It is a case of “I’ll show you mine if you show me yours”.
A dick pic is a way to show, in an instant, that you are interested. By sending them a picture of your erect penis, you are saying “thinking of you does this to me”. In a way, it is a compliment… but it isn’t one that a lot of people are happy receiving.
Don’t give what you don’t want to receive
Recently people have been talking about the woman who posted a restaurant review on the popular social media site Facebook, only to get a rather unsettling message from a guy in reply to it. He sent her a private message, which said “hey”, followed by a dick pic. After the picture he added “you have pretty eyes”, to make it clear to her that he was paying her a compliment.
Now, if you have used a social media site to write a review for a restaurant, the last thing you will expect is a dick pic. However, Samantha Mawdsley, the victim in this situation, decided that it was worth showing him just what it was like to receive dick pics without warning.
She spent over an hour sending him picture after picture after picture of dicks. The conversation between them shows that she understands why men send them, but doesn’t agree with the unsolicited messages. The man who sent the message in the first place called her fucking crazy, to which she responded: “I’m crazy?!! Why?! For sending dick pics to strangers on the Internet?! Dude! Pot, kettle, black!!”.
She also added that “DICK PICS ARE NICE!!! ACCEPT MY NICENESS!!!” to show how ridiculous it was for the man to believe that she was getting offended by the picture unnecessarily, when she had not even asked for it.
Who you know
This is not the only dick pic story to go viral on social media. At the beginning of the year, we heard about the models using Instagram who had decided to address the fact that they were getting far too many random dick pics from guys. They came up with a rather ingenious way to stop them, and that was by using social media against them.
A lot of them sending the pictures had the same images and things on other social media sites, and instead of keeping their profiles private, model Emily Sears was able to see all of the people that they had on their lists of friends… as well as members of their families. She began to send out messages to those the guys were involve with. One example of a message can be read below:
Terribly sorry to tell u that ur partner is sending pictures of his genitals to models on Instagram. I’m telling you this because I’m a girls girl and I think women need to stick together. I want you to know that all types of men do this kind of thing and it’s no reflection on you. You deserve better treatment than this.
She then posted screenshots of those messages (with names removed for privacy) on her social media accounts, stating “here’s what happens when you send me dick pics to DM. I do not play”, making it clear to anyone eager to get their thrills by sending those kind of messages that it just isn’t on.
So… should you send a dick pic?
Okay, so while there are a lot of stories online of women receiving unsolicited dick pics and shaming the senders, they mainly come from women who got them from strangers. Basically, if you don’t actually know the person, don’t send it. Only send it if the person has asked for it, and even then you might want to be cautious. Make sure that you are absolutely certain they want a dick pic, and use an image sharing site that does not allow them to save the image. Give them a little bit of a tease, but not much more.
Not sure if you should be sending that pic? Ask yourself this: why do you want to send it? Is it because they have asked for it? If so, by all means, send the message. Is it because you want to impress them? We can think of some other ways that you can do that. Is it to shock them? Put down the phone and find something else to do instead.
