Euro 2016 Mascot Shares Name With Sex Toy!

Whether you are a football fan or not, you’ll know that the UEFA Euro 2016 kicked off on Friday with France v. Romania, and it is set to be an intense championship. Euro 2016 will be the 15th edition of the UEFA European Championship, and so the stakes are high. So high that the build-up to the competition saw the creation of a mascot to try and bring in more viewers.

A football hits the back of the net, representing the excitement we can expect at Euro 2016

The mascot, we imagine, has been designed to get younger viewers interested in football. The boy with a cape and a football under one arm looks jolly and happy, and when he was first unveiled back in November 2014, he didn’t cause much of a stir.

However, he has now been named… and his name is making people look at him twice. Why? Because Super Victor, as he is now being called, actually shares a name with a sex toy, and people have found themselves on sex websites when looking to buy the cuddly mascot. Oops, right?

Super Victor, the Euro 2016 Mascot

Back in November 2014, before France played against Sweden, the UEFA Euro 2016 team revealed their new mascot: a young boy with a love of football. Wearing a cape and often carrying a football under his arm, he didn’t actually have a name for a long time.

The creators couldn’t decide on one, it seems, and so they decided that the best way to give their new mascot a name was to let the public decide. They set up a vote, giving a number of suggestions, and let us decide through the magic of the UEFA website and social media.

107,790 people voted on the name, which is apparently a record number of participants for a “name the mascot” UEFA poll. However, there was a clear winner, as Super Victor had 48% of the votes, while the names of Goalix and Driblou were left behind with 27% and 25% of the votes respectively.

They chose these names because of the words they represent. Victor stands for victory, goalix for goal, and driblou for dribbling. They wanted a football-related name for their mascot, and so Victor for Victory won.

It seems, however, that those deciding the names that would go into the Euro 2016 poll didn’t do enough research. Instead of checking the names online to see which were in use, they simply submitted them, and they have now discovered that Super Victor shares his name with a sex toy… and it’s a big one.

Super Victor, the Giant Dildo

Looking up Super Victor will tell you a little bit about the mascot… and a lot about the sex toy that he shares his name with. It is, honestly, a mammoth of a sex toy, weighing a massive 5.5 kilos.

Super Victor is roughly 19 inches in circumference and is at least 17 inches long, making it one hell of a challenge for someone. In fact, the informative video about it on the Lovehoney website tells you that it is “definitely not for the faint hearted” and that “you need to be an experienced user” to take on the challenge that is the Super Victor Giant Dildo. If you can’t quite get your head around just how big it is, take a look at the video. That should give you a pretty good idea.

Unfortunately, it seems that the toy has now been discontinued, so the chances of you being able to buy it are pretty low. However, even if it was still being sold, this toy isn’t really one suitable for your budget. One website had it retailing at €121.44, so it is definitely something you would need to save up for, if you wanted to take on the challenge.

Tension and Euro 2016

This is probably going to be one of the most popular topics of conversation whenever the Euro 2016 competition is brought up. It is a huge embarrassment to the organisers, as they had never expected someone to decide to call a dildo Super Victor. However, while it is a pretty controversial topic, it has helped get people thinking about something other than the fights that can break out.

Given the fact that there have already been a number of fans arrested for their behaviour in France, this ridiculous and, honestly, hilarious story is giving people something to laugh about. Instead of letting them get worked up over which team is the best, they are giggling at the fact that the Euro 2016 organisers didn’t realise that Super Victor was the name of a giant dildo, as well as their mascot.

While a spokesperson has come forward to speak about the issue: “all we can say is that they [the sex aids] are not produced by Uefa”, people are still having a good laugh about it.

Ireland’s chances in the Euros

When it comes to the winners of the Euros, it looks like France are the favourites, with many saying that the home advantage would give them a chance to succeed above others. However, Germany, Spain, England, Belgium, Portugal, and Italy are all sitting at the top of the betting tables as having strong chances to win.

That said, a lot of us are still holding out hope that the Irish can do well. Northern Ireland are playing in Group A, while the Republic of Ireland are a part of Group E. Both teams have a decent standing, but defence seems to be a challenge that both teams are going to have to overcome… so how well do you think they are going to do?

Who do you think will win the Euro 2016 championship? Do you think the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland have a chance to get to the top? We want to hear from you. You can use the comment box below to share your thoughts, or you could head over to the Escort Ireland forum and join in the discussion there.

You can also tell us what you think of this naming blunder. Is it intentional to draw up interest in the mascot, or is it simply an honest mistake?
