More XXX: Massage Parlours & Saunas
Massage Parlours and Saunas are Local Authority licensed premises that exist in parts of the UK where female masseuses offer massage services to male customers. They offer massage services in the context of massage being an erotic service. Though massage is not inherently an erotic service, a business offering non-erotic massage services, like sports therapy massage, would not call itself a Massage Parlour or Sauna, in recognition of the fact those names belong to businesses offering female to male massage services of an erotic nature.
It is commonplace for the masseuses in Massage Parlours and Saunas to offer their customers 'extras' in addition to massage services, these being sexual services like masturbation, oral sex, and sex. Massage Parlours and Saunas won't generally openly advertise the availability of any sexual services though, as they are not licensed to offer such services.
The licensing Massage Parlours and Saunas have is generally known as 'Special Treatment' licensing. It is a type of licensing that could apply to other services, like acupuncture, also. Any business seeking Special Treatment licensing from their Local Authority has to apply for it, there are costs involved, and it is often difficult or even impossible to get. Some Local Authorities do not license Massage Parlours or Saunas at all. If a Massage Parlour or Sauna is licensed the implication is that the Local Authority is checking conditions are safe and hygienic, the masseuses are properly qualified and the owners do not have criminal convictions in relation to prostitution.
Massage Parlours and Saunas can be subject to police attention as much as any off-street prostitution business in the UK can be. Whilst it seems off-street prostitution is largely not a UK police concern, in recent years Massage Parlours and Saunas have been targeted amongst other off-street prostitution businesses, in what sparse police action there has been.
Massage Parlours and Saunas do not exist in Ireland at all. In the Republic of Ireland there is not the framework for them to possibly exist. Though they could perhaps possibly exist in Northern Ireland as it is part of the UK, they don't, the Local Authorities are not licensing them.
