I would say to clients that if its impacting you financially then step back for a minute or set a budget and stick to it.

If it's not affecting you financially then rock on and enjoy it, we will be a long time dead, I dont worry about the amount I spend on chocolate, cheese, make up & perfume, I just think of the happiness they bring me!

TommyH, I'm howling at that one, WHERE do you get these!
From the dark recesses of my mind, its mostly inappropriate comments and one liners back there, glad you got a laugh

The odd week I might have two visits. I could add it up but I’d prefer not to. Estimate maybe 12k per annum. I have a rough budget. I’m mortgage free. My financial responsibilities are taken care off. I view as a hobby way more enjoyable than golf which I suffer for socially.

I changed jobs 2 years ago took a large pay cut for more time off and way less stress. At the time I went to a financial planner who worked with the brokers who looked after my pension. Free although that was because of my pension arrangement. Even if it wasn’t I would have paid for it. You give them an honest appraisal of your outgoings and your income along with some potential spikes along the way. Eye opening stuff. I added 3 years to my early retirement by changing jobs (exit at 59 became exit at 62). My health costs skyrocket after 75. That’s an average assumption not necessarily just for me. I put a 12k entertainment budget in. Told them it was for a certain named sporting hobby. I was told that could be reduced if needs be. I felt like saying Mother Nature would be taking care of that soon enough.

I run out of my own money at 81 and become dependant totally on the State. Which seems ok at this point in time.i recommend wholeheartedly as money well spent once you hit 50 for men and women alike. I’d add a comprehensive health check at the same time. Health care bills can potentially be your single greatest expense from your mid 60s on. Anything you can do to improve your health at this point is money in the bank for say spending on some nice company later on rather than 250 euros on a consultant who gives you 10 minutes to tell you nothing you didn’t know already.

I’ll leave behind a decent house for the people that need it.
Well done you 👏. Enjoy life now. I've taken the same view. Enjoy before you cant due to age. Memories are for life.

Better that you enjoy it than the government via inheritance tax.
They tax you when you earn it, tax you when you spend it and even manage to tax you if you don't spend it.
