Just did a check on Google Maps, Sandyford in the foothills of the Dublin mountains is only 1 hour 15 minutes from Cabra Castle on the North Meath / Cavan border, as for Ashbourne, it's not even half an hour from Sandyford taking the M50.
Not exactly a trek if you have a car.
