Good Girl, Alx, keep at it
!!!!
My first three days were absolute, abject hell lol.. Thanks for asking
xx
The urge to smoke would overcome me every 20 minutes or so, to such degree that eventhough I was having lunch with my "smoke quitting buddy" , I could not hear a word he was saying.. It would last ten minutes or so, then I'd be back to normal until the next attack hit about 20mins later. First three days = hell.. Especially in the car.. I came to realize that the majority of my cigarettes I smoked even without being conscious of them.. just a very deeply ingrained habit..
I was told to hang inthere for 21 days, and then it will be easier. Sure enough, at 21 days it was like somebody threw a switch : I no longer had any desire to smoke.. Haven't smoked since, but for a very long time I still had dreams where I was happily puffing away, and then in my dream panic would hit at the thought of having to quit--again..
I wouldn't have been able to quit except for having a buddy along for the adventure. I am competitive, and there was no way that he would quit smoking and I would fail !! So patches and a very healthy dose of willpower did the trick
Alx, first three days are hardest xx stick with it, it gets easier xx Good luck, Girl xx
