My first three days were absolute, abject hell lol.. Thanks for asking xx

The urge to smoke would overcome me every 20 minutes or so, to such degree that eventhough I was having lunch with my "smoke quitting buddy" , I could not hear a word he was saying.. It would last ten minutes or so, then I'd be back to normal until the next attack hit about 20mins later. First three days = hell.. Especially in the car.. I came to realize that the majority of my cigarettes I smoked even without being conscious of them.. just a very deeply ingrained habit..

I was told to hang inthere for 21 days, and then it will be easier. Sure enough, at 21 days it was like somebody threw a switch : I no longer had any desire to smoke.. Haven't smoked since, but for a very long time I still had dreams where I was happily puffing away, and then in my dream panic would hit at the thought of having to quit--again..

I wouldn't have been able to quit except for having a buddy along for the adventure. I am competitive, and there was no way that he would quit smoking and I would fail !! So patches and a very healthy dose of willpower did the trick

Alx, first three days are hardest xx stick with it, it gets easier xx Good luck, Girl xx

I understand perfectly what you mean about the 20min... my biggest test was coffee this morning with no cigarette and after that in the afternoon sometime my second coffee , staying outside at a coffee shop (how i usually do so i can smoke) and i am proud to say that i passed the test no cigarette .. i think it's becoming a competition with myself

Thank you everyone for suporting me

Through Monday to Friday, I do great, but come the weekend, when out with friends, especially in a bar or club, I find it nigh on impossible not to have a smoke, and the cycle continues.

Imagine the amount of money I'd save, maybe I should use that has a inspiration, hehe. :3

Best of luck in your effort to give up. I tried To smoke when I was 13 but never got the hang of it -gave up too quickly! Lucky me!

Just dreadful. I had many first days but eventually kicked the habit and it was the best thing I ever did.

just hit the 30 hour mark myself and feel like sh1t,

smoking nearly 30 years and have gone cold turkey this time as have spent a small fortune before on patches, filter, so this time just gonna sweat it out

and I literally mean Sweat it out, have been sweating buckets all day, fingers twitching , have to keep cracking my knuckles, and have gone through 2kg of toffee' , 1 litre of choclate icecream, 2 packs of caramel digestives and have now started on the whiskey to help me get to sleep

but I am gonna stick to it

Congratulations Alexa for starting the process. I really hope you manage to stay off them. I am reliably told that it is one of the hardest habits to quit, so am always impressed when someone manages to do so. Best of luck.
