The first house I had when I was pregnant with my son had a pomagne tree in the back garden, which was one of the original trees from the drink Pomagne that originated in Worcester. I rather liked that I hope it is still there. We used to eat the apples off it.

I recently planted a magnolia tree at the bottom of my garden in memory of my Aunty. It's little buds are growing, but it just looks like a long stick at the moment. I can't wait for it's first bloom.

Give it time kate and it will be a lovely sight to see,I have a pomegranete bush growing, wine apples as they call them in England, sadly last years frost nearly killed it,its a late spring this year, bet the magnolia tree will be bursting out in blossom next year .

Don't mean to be a prick but Magnolias have already bloomed - maybe it's an immature tree or you need to put it in a more sheltered area (wind will rip the blossoms apart).

No you're not being a prick (this time) hehe. I only planted it last month. The buds could be branches for all I know lol. I'm not really that much of a country bumpkin and I've never had one before, so I'm waiting to see what happens, but they were about a cm long and now they are about 2 and a bit. It's at the bottom of the garden sheltered by a shed to the one side and has fence about a metre and a half away at the back and to the side, but still has good sunlight, which the instructions said it needs. I talk to it now and again to tell it that I love it, because it's holding my Aunty's memories. I know I'm a nut.

Anyway, whatever they are, it's growing and that is the main thing.

No Kate you are not a nut, kind hearted yes,it preserves your memory of your aunt, just the same as if she gave you a tea set and when you use it you remember her.
