Well while the post or poster may not be all they seem it does raise a bit of a question about double standards. When a black
girl would suggest that they might prefer a lighter skin colour it is met with all kinds of horror that such a thing could be suggested and it is immediately assumed it has something to do with discrimination or race.
Well just look at the flip side of the coin, most all white girls try to change their natural skin colour by either sunbathing,
sunbeds or artifical tan and not a word is said to them about being perfect as they are and that they shouldnt change their
skin colour, it is generally seen as postive to do this, bit of hypocricy here i think

I don't think that is a case in point. Someone who is white will naturally tan in the sun, as would someone who is not white, but it shows more. Because a tan is associated with the sun, which naturally makes you feel good and healthy, then it is instinctive to feel better about yourself when you have a tan. Like all things, some people will over do it.

Personally I can't sit in the sun for more than 2 mins without getting bored, so I tend to get a silly tan with lots of white bits in strange places, so I go for the sat under an umbrella with a good book and stay white look.

I think people were just trying to say that she had no reason to change, because she had natural beauty. How that can be misconstrude as racism I'm not sure?

I also think when girls have over done it with tanning it doesn't particularly improve the way they look.

Can't remember who it was who said 'I remember when the girls in Ireland had orange hair and white skin!'

I think youll find that bleaching black skin is a permanent feature but a caucasian going for a tan is merely cosmetic.
