    Smile getting fit

i lost the few pounds i had gained during last winter,
the frost led to idleness, too much cake and i gained @ 4 kilo.

i walked a lot for a couple of months and lost most of that.
    i don't feel fit-does fit have a feeling?

how would you become fit? i used to run a mile on the
track, but it feels like you're dying sometimes

I joined a gym and have been going regularish. So am feeling the benefits of late.

Feeling fit ? I'm not sure how it could be described. Feeling well in your own skin, energized ?

Maybe as you say you can run a mile, but feel like you are dying, make it a goal to be able to run that mile without feeling like you are dying ? Go as slow as you can for as long as you can. Like a good ride

Fit is when you feel great most of the time, you have high levels of energy and you need to train.

join a club and get competitive then you won't even think about getting fit or losing weight, as you will

get addicted to it. running on a treadmill in a gym is like watching paint dry.

p.s I just completed my first half ironman

My fitness plan starts most Mondays and ends most Monday evenings.
Imo the most weight lost by going to a gym is from your wallet.
A brisk walk is as good as a run.
Recommendations are 150mins per week. 30mins 5 nights a week.
Scary thing that a mile walk only burns the calories of 2 jaffa cakes.
Good news is that 48h post exercise you still use up more calories even sitting in a chair compared to not having exercised.

I also have a problem of keeping fit over the winter.. You feel fat and sluggish all the time and your clother are eating into your skin... In the summer I box at least five days per week, as youth is not on my side this summer so I desided to box 6am five mornings per week and three evenings per week... This is a good way of keeping fit, a hell of a lot easier than the threadmill... Get your self down to the boxing gym or hire a personal boxing traininer...

Push yourself doing something until you can't talk but can stlll breathe easily without talking. Do that for 40 minutes per day, pushing your heart rate up to 90% for sprint sessions of about 1 minute every five, and you will burn fat. To gain stamina, push your heart rate to c.70% and keep it there for 20 mins. Vary your routine every 3 weeks or sooner if you become comfortable with it.

To gain muscle, eat more protein and use heavy weights. The routines are a bit more complicated to write about here, but any good trainer will tell you what you need to know.

As for feeling fit, I'm well over 6 feet, can run and cross country bike a bit, and feel very good. However, it took a while as I was previously quite unhealthy. I'd never go back.
