From all the stuff coming out of the club it appears that a large part of the problem is that they appointed a new director of football Tim Steidten. He is in his 40s has a very good record of recruiting young players at good prices and developing them. Moyes want proven premiership players, most of what he wants are in the late 20s plus and will have little resale value. He is also looking for his ‘type’ of player which is more workhorse than talented. Further problem is that there is one year left on his contract so if the plan is not to extend it do you let him stack the squad with players the next manager might think are suited to his style of play.
I think this season is largely to be written off, all about staying up with another year of industrial style football… the question will be can the stay up
