Those of us of a certain vintage will remember the Riordan's Ketchup, long before Glenroe was Sunday night viewing in households throughout Ireland. Most of the cast must be dead at this stage, I think his wife on the show Biddy White Lennon died a number of years ago. R I P Benjy.

It replaced the Riordan's and it in turn was replaced by Glenroe. That's where Gabriel Byrne made his humble beginnings.

I think that Glenroe was actually a spin off of Bracken, Joe Lynch played Dinny Byrne in it as well as far as I can remember.
By that stage I was old enough to be going to the pub on a Sunday night but at that time it was always South of the border as pubs up here weren't allowed to open on a Sunday.
