don't know if anyone saw it but there was a case in court last week reported in the irish indo. where a romanian woman pleaded guilty to running a brothel, the judge said he didn't believe she was acting alone but what could he do if she's willing to take the rap. but the scary thing about it is it gave address and apt no. in the report and i was in that apt about 6 months ago meeting a girl who is stll working in galway and advertising herself as independent, which she clearly isn't.
    ps the location was galway.

I believe we must rely on the ladies words and those of fellow clients.

Any premises can be targeted by the cops, if it's a dwelling (apartment, etc.) they must have a search warrant unless there are extraordinary excusing circumstances (threat to life or possible destruction of evidence). There has to be a reasonable suspicion of some offence ongoing or being committed to get a warrant, as they have to be signed by either a District Court Judge or a Peace Commissioner (although a Garda of Superintendent rank can issue them under certain Acts). The address also obviously has to be correct.

Organising or profiting from prostitution is an offence. Selling sex is not an offence, nor is buying it at present, as long as it's not on the street or with a trafficked individual (Criminal Law [Human Trafficking] Act 2008)

Well I would'nt have thought it was such a great shame if the people who are arrested happen to be pimps or traffickers..........so "anyone" needs to be qualified further. I take it by "anyone", you mean bona fide escorts only.

Well it's worth noting that agencies are in fact illegal, regardless of their merits. I suppose they do have to be seen to doing something though, as recently a question was asked in the Dail about the relevant operation, known as "Quest", and they've yet to come back with details of it's success or operation. Watch this space.
