Wasn`t so close as it turned out. Robertson won all 4 frames that he needed in a row for a 10-5 win which sees him through to the next round. In the first upset result of the tournament Kurt Maflin beat David Gilbert 10-8 to book a last 16 round match against John Higgins.

Ronnie O`Sullivan finished his 1st round match this morning with a 10-1 demolition job against Thepchaiya Un-Nooh to set a new record for the quickest victory in a World Championship match. The Rocket now goes through to a last 16 round match against Ding Junhui next weekend. Anthony McGil leads Jack Lisowski 5-4 after the first session of their match.

Shaun Murphy trails Noppon Saengkham by 4 frames to 1 at the moment, it would be a massive shock if Murphy doesn’t turn this around

Mark Selby v Jordan Brown; starts tonight, it would be nice if the NI man could give Selby a contest, I can’t see it happening, but I hope he doesn’t get badly beaten

I see he's 500/1 to win the competition outright so the bookies aren't giving him much of a chance.

Another 500/1 shot is Mark Allen's opponent Jamie Clarke. I didn't know the Armagh player played snooker too !
    Are we there yet ?

I don't think Selby will hammer him at all

Well a shock could be on the cards in this match. Saengkham leads Murphy 6-3 after the 1st session of their match and the 2005 World champion has an uphill task if he is to turn things around. Yan Bingtao held off a spirited comeback from Elliot Slessor to win 10-7 and goes through to the next round and book a meeting with the defending champion Judd Trump.

I see Brown is from Antrim but other than that I know nothing about him. It would be an almighty shock if he was to beat Selby but stranger things have happened.

I thought maybe he was an up and coming youngster, but he is 33 I think, best of luck to him
