I've stayed in the Dusit.
It's a little bit out, easily walked, but a nice hotel and guests aren't an issue.
Staff are mainly beautiful women who kneel in front of you while presenting beer or whatever.
Hard to come back to this kip.
Food is good and breakfast is like nothing you've ever seen.
If in Bangkok I recommend the Amari Watergate.
Thailand has become a lot more expensive in recent years so don't go there on a budget. €2500 per week spending money will see you ok.
Thanks for that
Any other recommendations

Alot of bars on soi 6 have short time rooms too , wish I was still there now what a place, 1500 baht for short time and 3000 for the night seems the average now plus bar fine if no short time rooms
Most hotels in pattaya are guest friendly, but sometimes some of the bigger hotels might not be. Sometimes you might be asked to pay a joiner fee. In budget hotels, this is rare, but if they do, it’s usually only 200 baht. However in some of the bigger hotels, they might ask for 1000 baht joiner fee.
As someone else mentioned soi 6 have short time rooms. However I’d avoid this street, being a first time tourist. I’ve had 3 girls get me to pay for rooms on that street, only for the girl to refuse me her services in the room. It’s a blatant scam and I fell for it in 3 different bars. And I’ve always been disappointed with the service from girls on soi 6, and I’ve had about 10 girls. It seems only expats can get a proper service there. Stick to your plan and bring girls to your room. Girls can be found in bars all over pattaya. Soi 6 is the only street I’d say avoid, and I’ve been regularly visiting pattaya since 2002.
Yeah you get labeled all sorts of things for going to pattaya! But usually from the more stuck up members of society, who don’t use escorts. Doesn’t bother me, just ignore them!!!
