It was their second number 1 after "Rat Trap" the previous year.

On this day in 1986, Queen played their last live concert with Freddie Mercury at the Knebworth Park Festival in England.
An audience of 120,000 heard them close out with "We Will Rock You"/"We Are The Champions" and "God Save The Queen."

"The Battle of the Bogside" began 50 years ago today.
It sparked further severe rioting in Belfast, led to the British Army being deployed onto the streets of NI and inspired the split of the Provisional IRA from the "Officials some months later, as the younger, northern IRA leaders felt the" Officials", with their older and sometime Southern leaders hadn't protected Nationalists on the ground in the North.

A Protestant Province for a Protestant People.

The Provisional IRA could have asked for no better recruiting sergeants than hardline Ulster Unionists, the Northern Irish Protestant government and subsequent actions by the British Government.

Fifty years ago today, perhaps the most iconic of music festivals began on the dairy farm of Max Yasgur in upstate New York.
It was possibly made more iconic by rain, mud, the lack of food, water and toilet facilities.
Unfortunately Mr. Yasgur and his community couldn't profit from the experience unlike the dairy farmer founder of another festival, Glastonbury - Michael Eavis.

In honour of the festival the cartoonist Schultz named the bird in his cartoon strip "Peanuts, featuring good ol'Charlie Brown" as Woodstock.
