A rich, egocentric, controlling, obsessive, douche-bag that's into... controlling a woman in the bedroom. Great

I haven't read the books but seen the trailer out of curiosity.
To me the trailer looks like "the devil wears prada" but substitute the fashion fetish in prada for domination/BSDM....
I've not read it so can't really say. I suppose the lack of detail, also makes it 'easy reading' for those that don't like to be bogged down with the detail. In contrast I have to admit to finding the Lord of the Rings difficult to read due to too much detail. Thankfully the Hobbit didn't have it quite so in depth and was a lot easier to keep a positive interest.
I'm currently reading the first book in the Game of Thrones novels and I love the way it is segmented, that way really works for me, as you get a lot of detail, but about one aspect of the story, so it's not bogged down.

Hmmmm the fact that it is extremely loosely based on BDSM, even though the movie doesn't appropiately explain it not even in the slightest or littlest bit, no safe words for example, this movies quite simply portrays that it is ok for men to control women and be in abusive relationships, I would really hope for humanity's sake that people see past the shitty excuse of BDSM and look at it for what it is. abusing and controlling women.

I'll take you to see the film when it's out next year.
