Former Olympian reveals she worked as a Vegas Escort

Interesting one this. Former US middle distance runner Suzy Favour (44 year old married mother of one) revealed she worked recently as an escort in Vegas (for $600 an hour!). She appears to have been outed, which seems to have precipitated her press release.

She ran her own real estate brokerage and was well known for doing a motivational speech circuit. So it's unlikely that she was doing it for the money. She was probably doing it for a host of other reasons of her own choosing -the thrill? the attention? sex with strangers? - all valid in a free country.

But in a country where escorting is illegal, public perception is doubly prejudicial .

So in her statement she apologizes for being an escort and letting down her loved ones!!!


It's a pity that someone like her feels the need to have to apologize!! Shows you what prejudice and the media can do!!

apparently she was outed by a client who broke the vow of discretion, what a pr*ck.

The public are always looking for people to hypocritically judge (we are all hypocrites in our own way) and take out their frustrations upon. the problem here is we take too much interest in other people's lives to scrutinize and criticisize them instead of supporting them when they're truly in a situation of trouble and despair.

Our way of thinking is flawed; we expect a person to make sense, to be happy all the time and to never have any struggles within nor contradict themselves. For instance, here we have the typical social expectation that as a prestigious olympian with a successful career and financial stability, she must play the role of dedicated mother, the perfect wife, the impervious motivational speaker and businesswoman. Any deviation from this is scandalous and splashed accross the tabloids pressuring her to indulge the people with a public apology for basically being human.

Very good thread and well said. I have been busy working of late so I'm looking back on old threads to catch up. I came across several threads where guys had told their family's, partner etc. that they were seeing escorts with mainly bad results.
One man told his family and he was written out of the will by his dad, I thought to myself if he had told his dad he was sleeping with every girl he met at every night club the father probably would have clapped him on the back. So where is the logic in that?

Hope she is not trying to make excuses or pass any buck as to why she did what she did. If we can learn anything from her honesty and candor at this point, it's that a great many athletes and stars we appreciate from afar have issues they are dealing with up close. That we never see them hardly negates their reality. So in this poit Suzy Favour was a world-class athlete, but she is also a human being. I think we could all agree that the latter is prone to a great deal of mistakes...
