I don't see why not. It should be a great boost to the economy, as long as Britain picks up the tab for the security.

    It's a very debatable point!
Yes, because she can visit other other former parts of the British empire and we can show that we has risen above the history.
The R.O.I. can show how it has developed over the years since it was last under British rule and at the end of the day she is only a figure head of British rule, it's the government that maintains it's ties to nations under it's rule.

On the other hand, no, the british still have control in the north and actions by the British are still fresh in peoples mind and still unresolved. The British monarchy and/or government had a lot to apologise and make amends for both in the north and the south!

Forrest is spot on - brings in tourist revenue and UK is our largest market in terms of overseas visitors - we should encourage. Time to move on once and for all from any baggage.

I've nothing against England or the English, but what is the point of pretending to be a medieval monarchy in the 21st century?

“All right,” said the Cat; and this time it vanished quite slowly, beginning with the end of the tail, and ending with the grin, which remained some time after the rest of it had gone.

yeah why not, we have to be able to put things in the past and not dwell on them. I am well aware of what the british have done to ireland but I agree with most of the other posters before me, it will end up being more beneficial to ireland in the long run

I dunno, while I would love to say let bygones be bygones and I have no grudge with the English people, none at all, but this woman was the head of the monarchy when all the shit was happening in the North and I just couldn't swallow it enough to say I would welcome her. I wish her no ill will but just don't expect me to welcome her with open arms nor expect me to encourage an invitation for her to visit, fine if she wants to visit of her own free will but an invitation, no no no.. I actually think that this is why we as a nation are being walked on by so many starting with our politicians, we're just too forgiving with the old chestnut, sure wouldn't you do the same yourself if you got a chance, or whats in the past but some things IMO are just to big to be forgotten about
